Dan Grannum — Milton Keynes Photographer
Photographer, musician, and the person behind Pixel Affiliate.
I'm based in Milton Keynes and work with businesses, bands, couples and creatives across Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and London.
Music and photography have run alongside each other for me since my early teens. They've never been a hobby and a job, or a then and a now — they've always been parallel. One has informed the other for as long as I've been doing either.
After studying music at college, I joined Jessops as an Academy tutor, teaching photography to people picking up cameras for the first time. From there I moved to Canon as a product specialist — years of working hands-on with the gear, the technical side, and the people using it. Alongside both jobs, I was steadily building Pixel Affiliate.
In 2020 I opened National Sound, my music studio in Newport Pagnell, and stepped back from photography for a while to give it the focus it needed. By 2025, with the studio established and holding its own, I came back to photography properly. In 2026, I'm opening a photography studio on the top floor of our Bassett Court location — directly above National Sound on the ground floor.
What I believe about photography is pretty simple. The best pictures don't come from forcing things — they come from showing up, being present, and paying attention. I turn up early. I talk to people like humans. I shoot what's actually happening rather than directing a stiff version of it. Some of my favourite frames have come from the bit between the bit, when nobody's posing and the real thing slips out.
Portraits, headshots, live music, weddings.
Events, venues, locations, the rooms and spaces that hold the moment.
Commercial photography, product shoots, brand content for small businesses and bigger names alike.
Recent work has taken me from shooting The Bros. Landreth at Union Chapel and Couch at O2 Kentish Town Forum to overhead flat-lays for album artwork, weddings I've been trusted to capture the way they actually unfolded, and brand content across a real mix of clients.
Previous clients include Marshall Amplification, Paris House in Woburn, British Bakels in Bicester, Unity Place and Santander here in Milton Keynes, alongside a steady roster of independent businesses across the area.
Photography coursesAlongside commission work, I run small hands-on photography courses out of Milton Keynes — Getting Out of Auto for beginners stepping off Auto mode for the first time, Lightroom for Beginners for people ready to start editing properly, and Affinity Photo for Beginners for those who want to skip the subscription model.
The teaching side comes naturally — it's what I was doing at Jessops years ago, and it's still the bit of the job I find most rewarding.
When I'm not behind a camera, I'm usually behind a bass or an acoustic — playing in several bands here in Milton Keynes.
I work the way I'd want to be worked with: honestly, without jargon, and treating every brief as if it's the most important one I've got — because for the person on the other end of it, it usually is.
If you're a couple planning a wedding, a band needing a press shot or a gig covered, a business that wants photography that doesn't look like everyone else's, or someone who's been meaning to learn their camera properly for years — get in touch. The door's open.
Pixel Affiliate works across Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and London, with bookings further afield by arrangement.
